Golden-Eagle Lodge and Cabins on the Gunflint Trail With our focus on Cross Country Skiing, you are welcome as a silent sports enthusiast to come and fish. Located on the north shore of Flour Lake, we are the only Resort and Resident. You can fish right out your door on Flour Lake’s northern reefs for the winters best Lake Trout. Ski or snowshoe to your own favorite fishing spot in the many surrounding lakes around Flour for Trout and Walleye. To help you get started, you’ll receive a fishing map of Flour Lake marked with some winter fishing spots. The lodge offers lakefront modern housekeeping cabins with fireplaces, all spaced for privacy. A gift store with a small selection of ice fishing tackle is also available at the lodge.

Gunflint Lodge Gunflint Lake off of the Gunflint Trail One of the well known native Lake Trout lakes in northern Minnesota is Gunflint Lake. Fishing starts right in front of the lodge on a rocky reef off a nearby point of land, and goes from there to other hot spots down the lake. In addition there are several other fine Lake Trout, Rainbow, Brook Trout and Splake lakes nearby. Pop-up fish houses are available, although many fisherman enjoy the opportunity to roam as the moods strikes them. Some lakes are accessible by snowmobile while others are by ski or snowshoe only. Winter trout fishing starts in January (early in the month for the BWCA lakes and mid month for Gunflint Lake) and continues on into March. There is some walleye fishing in April just before the season closes. The lodge will clean and freeze your fish for you.

trout Gunflint Pines Resort Gunflint Lake off of the Gunflint Trail Located 45 miles from the city of Grand Marais and on the shore of one of Minnesota’s premier Lake Trout lakes. The trout average between 2 to 6 pounds during the winter and we sometimes see a trophy catch of over 20 pounds. However, many anglers use Gunflint Pines as their base camp as they travel to other lakes in the area for Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Splake. Gunflint Pines offers two, three and four bedroom cabins, fireplaces, and full housekeeping amenities.
