Golden-Eagle Lodge and Cabins Gunflint Trail Grand Marais Minnesota Sits deep in the tranquillity of Unspoiled and Unforgettable ancient forests. Located on the north shore of Flour Lake, we are the only Resort and Resident. As a "silent sports only" resort in three-million acres of the Superior National Forest, you can ski from your cabin door on over 60 kilometers of Snow Cat groomed cross country ski trails. All trails are tracked for traditional skiing with 20 km. for skate skiing. Being on the Laurentian Divide and on the north side of the Sawtooth Mt. Range, the average snow fall is 120 inches per year. This whispery powder snow allows for groomed skiing starting from November to mid April. Our trail system has been specifically built for cross country skiing with trails ranging from beginner to advanced. Nationally-renowned for having some of the finest trails in the Upper Mid-West, it is said to be World-Class Nordic Skiing at it’s best. Golden Eagle Lodge is well known for it’s night skiing on our Lantern Lit Trail. This 2 km. loop winds on some of the eskers left by the glaciers. The Lodge has a complete ski rental program for children to adults and a heated waxing room. Trail fees are required on a seasonal or daily basis. We offer lakefront modern housekeeping cabins with fireplaces and all are spaced for privacy. A gift store and sauna is available at the lodge. [Check the ski and snow report]

Gunflint Lodge Gunflint Trail Grand Marais Minnesota A full service lodge with over 100 km of tracked and groomed trails ranging from beginner to advanced. The lodge is located on the upper Gunflint Trail north of the Laurentian Divide where the snow season is the longest in Minnesota. Most of the trails start right behind your cabin or the main lodge and meander through a heavy forest of pine, birch and cedar -- past beaver ponds, up through winter moose feeding areas and into deep cedar swamps. The snow usually hangs heavy on the balsam boughs and stays white and beautiful from Thanksgiving to early April. A beautiful 2 km lit trail offers you a final loop to ski after dinner when you might catch a glimpse of the northern lights blazing across the arctic skies. Ski rentals and lessons are available. Gunflint Pines Resort Gunflint Trail Grand Marais Minnesota Offers beautifully groomed Nordic ski trails.  Our ski trails go deep through the forest adjacent to the famed Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. They meander through thick cedar swamps, winter feeding yards of moose, along the high cliffs on the south shore of Gunflint Lake, and up to scenic vistas. Over 100 km of trails are regularly groomed by a Piston-Bully, some single tracks deep in the forest, some double tracks and some skating. Enjoy the prettiest trails in the Midwest while staying in a modern A-Frame Cabin. Gunflint Pines offers two, three and four bedrooms cabins, all have fireplaces, and full housekeeping amenities. Perfect for the couple on a romantic get-a-way or the adventurous ski club. [Check the ski and snow report]
