Golden-Eagle Lodge and Cabins
Gunflint Trail Grand Marais Minnesota
Located on the edge of Unspoiled and Unforgettable snowshoeing worlds. A "silent
sports only" resort, we offer marked trails surrounding the resort or enter the BWCA
in which you blaze your own trail. We are the only Resort and Resident on the lake. Follow
the marked "Big Foot Trail" across Flour Lake, through Spruce and Balsam stands,
over eskers left by the glaciers and past remnants of an old forest fire. With
three-million acres of forest see the tracks of the wild. Guided snowshoe treks are
available for the beginners to the advanced. The Lodge offers snowshoe rentals for
everyone in the family from the toddlers to the adults. Golden Eagle Lodge is a Tubbs
& Red Feather snowshoe dealer and carries a variety in the Lodge store. You can try
snowshoes before you buy to see how you like the fastest growing sport around.

Gunflint Lodge
Gunflint Trail Grand Marais Minnesota
Snowshoeing at Gunflint has
evolved from a mode of
transportation for the trappers and Indian neighbors to a fun sport for
winter visitors. Miles of special snowshoeing trails await you to
explore and enjoy. They start right from the back of the dog sled yard
and are laced through our back basin. You can often find fresh moose
and wolf tracks on the trail in the morning and perhaps catch a glimpse
of a white tail deer. Red Feather snowshoes, light and easy to use, are
available to rent. This year Gunflint has a special Snowshoers
"Dream-Come-True" package which combines accommodations, snowshoes, all meals,
two guided treks and lots of time for your own snowshoeing in the forest. The snowshoeing
season runs from early December thru March. |

Lookout Point or the High Cliffs, rock outcrops studded with towering white pines,
give a view of Gunflint Lake and the forested hills of Canada on the far shore. For the
experienced snowshoer, Gunflint Pines is conveniently located on the edge of the Boundary
Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which holds countless adventures into the wild. Enjoy
housekeeping cabins with all the amenities, a warm fire in the fireplace, and from two
queen size beds in two bedrooms to seven double beds in four bedrooms. |
